Individual/Organizational Expectations

Everything started great on the first day of the job I accepted after graduation. I met my coworkers, set up my desk, and even wrote a few emails, all before lunch. Then my boss called me into her office. We chatted, talked about my schooling and degree, and then she asked me to spend the rest of my day purging an old filing cabinet. I laughed at what I thought was a joke. She didn’t even crack a smile as she led me to the location of the old filing cabinet. I had expected to use the skills I spent four years learning. My expectations were wrong.
